Is it possible to run Maven caliper with Shimano lever?

I wish the government would pay for my local trails, all of ours are volunteer maintained so it gets shitty quick and stays that way until we all get out there and fix them.

Honestly I'm glad that they moved to mineral oil. I don't want to have to deal with a corrosive fluid any time I bleed my brakes. My new bike is coming with Maven Bronze so I'll test them out for myself soon. If they are good enough, I will keep them, but if they suck I'll put Maguras on there. Been using MT7 Pro for about 5 years and loved every moment. Even after 5 years they are still going strong and they have been moved between two bikes as well.

@Dalestone I'm now using these brakes and they are super nice. Do you find that once the pads hit the rotor it feels a little spongey? Like the wall you hit is not as firm as Shimano brakes. Or perhaps mine need more bleeding?

I must ask because I see it on every race video of yours: Why do you guys use such a bad time measuring system? I mean it's so inefficient and prone to failure. You can easily lose a second or two trying to "punch in". Every race I've seen in my country and some of them are really low level amateur races had a proper time measuring system where you put a transponder on a bike and just go through start and finish.

Dude, that was an amazing ride. I always think you ride great, but that was a noticeably strong effort. Especially the uphills where, no joke, I literally wondered if the GoPro effect was faking me out and it was actually flat or, even, downhill! The separation between you and the rest of the pack starting in third place was eye popping. Now to the equally eye-popping separation between you and first…. Wow! Which leads to a question: I seem to recall you contemplating a racing career at one point. In your mind, if you were to commit to a racing career, what would you have to do to close the gap with the elite racers like Nick McLeod or Jesse Melamed?
